AA XC MTB Lamma 5 hour Enduro
Lamma Island, Hong Kong – Sunday Nov 29, 2009

Hong Kong – Beijing’s Piers Touzel settled outstanding business that needed to be taken care of at Sunday’s AA XC MTB Lamma 5 hour perhaps Asia’s toughest 5 hour mountain bike race in the view of many international riders.

It was almost a repeat of the 2008 showdown against Hong Kong series champion Cheng Cheuk Chun who was wheel to wheel with Touzel for almost 4 hours before Touzel pushed ahead when Cheng started to cramp opening up a gap for the first time in the 5 hour race to take home the famous AA XC MTB Lamma Cup.

“Well, I had unfinished business here as last year Cheng beat me and this year I wasn’t going to let that happen again” said Beijing resident Piers Touzel from the Greater China North Face Specialized Team who clocked up 71.5km in the 5 hours the same as Cheng.

“It was tough and I did my best, am happy to win the overall series Pacific Coffee Cup for gaining the most points, but had to settle for 2nd place in today’s race as started cramping trying to hang on to Piers. He’s a very good rider,” said Bike City rider Cheng Cheuk Chun who took home the Pacific Coffee Cup for winning the 4 race points series, but missed out by just over 3 minutes to claim the AA XC MTB Lamma Cup.

Shanghai’s Specialized team riders Eric Koh and Chia Kung took the overall Men’s Relay Team title clocking up 71.5km between them.

Sean Ho from Hong Kong took home a handful of trophies winning the AA XC MTB Lamma Cup, the overall series champion taking home the Pacific Coffee Cup and winning her age category on top for a day to add to her silverware collection.

“Yeh, I’m so happy, my legs are so sore and just happy the 5 hours of pain is over” said Women’s Champion System rider Sean Ho the overall women’s champion who did 49.5km over the 5 hours.

The Pacific Coffee Cup is handed to both the overall Men’s Champion and overall Women’s Champion of the 4 race Action Asia XC MTB Enduro series and as a token for the last most punishing 5 hour race on Lamma's 5.5km circuit there is a separate Lamma Enduro Cup for both Men and Women overall individual champion.
