A NOMAD EXPERIENCE
Mongolia lies in east-central Asia between China and Russia. The territory of Mongolia 1 million 566.5 thousand square kilometers. The average elevation is 1500m above sea level. Race location temperatures will be 15c - 21c in July.
Itinerary:
Thurs July 19 - Participants arrive Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Thurs July 19 - Participant bus departure (2x noon and late afternoon) to race venue destination (5 hour drive), Accommodation included
Fri July 20 - Day 1 race - Accommodation included
Sat July 21 - Day 2 race - Accommodation included
Sun July 22 - Day 3 race (finished around 1pm so it is possible to get back to UB by 6pm if you choose to fly out Sunday night
Sun July 22 - Bus back to UB, Awards ceremony, Dinner buffet, Accommodation in UB hotel if needed
Mon July 23 - Breakfast at Hotel, departure shuttle bus to airport

July 19th. Entry fee includes accommodation starting Thursday July 19

Ultra marathon category (total 100 km over 3 days): Day 1 - 42 km (1600m – 1750m - 1600m) Day 2 - 40 km (1600m – 1850m - 1600m) Day 3 - 18 km (1600m – 2000m - 1600m)
Explorer category - good for hiking (total 60 km over 3 days): Day 1 - 22 km (1600m - 1750m - 1600m) Day 2 - 20 km ((1600m – 1800m - 1600m) Day 3 - 18 km (1600m – 2000m – 1600m)

Option available for extra hotel nights thru official official travel agent. What's included in the entry:
A) bus transportation from Ulaanbaatar (Airport and City) official hotel to start race location Thurs July 19 B) transportation during stage race days and transport of your luggage between race stages if necessary C) accommodation for Thurs July 19th, Fri July 20th, Sat July 21st in Gers and army tents Sunday July 22 in Ulaanbaatar Hotel (twin & triple share) if needed. D) transportation from finish to official venue Sun Jul 22nd for awards E) dinner at awards Sun July 22 F) bus transportation from hotel to airport immediately after awards if needed or Monday morning July 23 on official shuttle (one bus departure time in morning)
G) Racing number & souvenir shirt provided H) Water on race course (cp every 10km estimate) with boiled water at finish line each day. I) Medical, Police and staff support with event insurance
What's not included:
- Optional extra nights accommodation - Visa for Mongolia - Food at race location (Need to bring freeze dried food as hot water provided. We will see if special portions of food can be sold but very small kitchen and takes a while to order but it is possible to purchase - cash in local currency). - Return flight tickets to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
CSR - Raising money for Action Asia Foundation - Local herders can use help in books and school supplies
The Action Asia Foundation is open to suggestions as there are a few projects of interest that will be open to discussion amongst participants which include raising funds for the school supplies for some of the herders children whether it is a donation of US$ 5 or US$ 100. All donations are welcome but not mandatory. A sponsorship pledge form will be sent by email to confirmed participants and put on the site. We're also looking at a way to do more and will discuss this with different organizations for CSR ideas and welcome input.
Course Design:
Designed by Michael Maddess who's
organized over 110 events with Action Asia Events and one of the most
experienced Race Directors in Asia.
*Mandatory equipment to be carried when racing each day – per person (watch this space for updates): - hydration system (min 2 litre capacity) camelbak style drinking system - First aid kit with basic essentials for cuts (bandages, tape, antiseptic) - Rain or spray jacket (plastic small packet kind ok) - Running shoes - Trail running shoes recommended - Food/energy bars/dried fruit/etc to get you thru 4-8 hours each day - 1 x emergency freeze dried meal that you can add hot water at a ger - 1 x water purification tablets - Whistle
Recommended items: - plastic map holder to keep map dry with string loop (or ziplock) - sleeping bag (min 10C rating) - 1 x headlamp with new batteries - freeze dried food for meals in gers as hot water provided (food provided at hotel Sun night/Mon morning) - headlamp, flashlight or torch for the village at night - extra batteries - mosquito repellent - sun cream - energy food for you to do race (nuts, dried fruit, peanuts, Chinese crackers, etc) - energy bars or gels for three days - energy powder replacement packets to add to water for your electrolytes - salt / electrolyte tablets - hat for running - lubricant gel or vaseline for chafing prevention - lightweight camera - flip flop sandals for after race - blister kit

Changes, Cancellation & Refunds Strictly no refunds once payment is made. Transfer of entry to a friend after payment is made is only allowed up to 2 weeks before race day.
