June 16, 2012 -SATURDAY - Discovery Bay (Nim Shue Wan Beach) (Race 2 of the 3 race series).

8am - Family FUN & kids event (700m kayak & 2 km run & 700m kayak):

Minimum age 6. Anyone children under 11 yrs old must have adult 18 yr above with them in kayak. FUN and not a serious race as short 700 meter kayak to Cheung Sha Lan (just around headland by Nim Shue Wan) then short run out on coastline maximum 1 km and returning to kayaks for 700m kayak back to finish at Nim Shue Wan.

REGISTRATION on morning begins 7:30am for confirmed FAMILY participants who have registered online and paid in advance. Capacity 60 teams.

Family course description - Not a serious race as designed for fun without timing. OK we will do timing but idea is too have fun and enjoy yourselves. Time limit is 1 hour 10 minutes to complete or our speedboat will have to go look for you...

9:15am - Adult race - 3 km kayak - 5 km run - 3 km kayak

Capacity 60 teams.

Adult race course description - Level of difficulty: If you are a beginner we would highly recommend some sort of upper body training (outrigging, dragonboating, fitness centre) as this is not a walk in the park and ocean kayaking can be more difficult from bad weather, large swells, currents, waves, bad navigation, etc.

Kayak 3 km - Nim Shue Wan kayak start. This is the beach at the back of Discovery Bay - 5 minute walk from DBAY main plaza ferry pier walking WEST towards the Mui Wo pier. Cut thru bus station and LEFT on main road until other ferry pier at Nim Shue Wan.

NO SHORT CUTTING HEADLAND THIS YEAR AFTER EXPLOSIVE DEPOT. TOO MANY BROKEN PADDLES LAST YEAR. Kayak to Man Kok Tsui beach.

Run 5 km (Hill behind explosive depot at Man Kok Tsui) IF YOU GET LOST OR TAKE LONGER ROUTE IT WILL BE 6 KM.

MUST STAY MINIMUM 50 METERS AWAY FROM EXPLOSIVE DEPOT FENCE AS WE HAVE BEEN WARNED BY PLA. Please no cutting close to fence. Many trails to use higher up hill. There will be 2 checkpoints to find. See map posted below.

Kayak 3 km (From Man Kok Tsui back to Nim Shue Wan). No short-cutting headland.

Course markings - Only beach and mtn check points marked as teams MUST NAVIGATE themselves. Highly recommend you bring map in waterproof holder or ziplock bag. Compass or GPS recommended if you don't know area.

Water checkpoint at beach check point Man Kok Tsui AFTER you finish the 2 running checkpoints. So please bring enough water to last you. Recommend 2 litre full hydration system.

RULES

1. Team comprises two people.

2. Team members may use any type of paddle or they can choose the Action Asia paddle.

3. Team members are responsible for supporting and assisting each other in the event of a capsize.

4. The two team members must stay within 50m distance of each other at all times on land. On sea they will share the same 2 person Action Asia kayak supplied by the organizer.

5. Both team members must complete entire course together.

6. Teams must wear Action Asia lifevests on water at all times like other age group categories.

7. TEVA race numbers must be worn on the FRONT of the them at all times during the race. Failure to do this could result in time penalties.

8. Garbage thrown on the course will result in a time penalty or possibly disqualification if deliberate.

9. Teams CAN NOT CHANGE their kayaks, paddles, lifevests once the race starts. Any teams caught taking another teams kayak, paddles, lifevests will either result in disqualification or a serious time penalty.

10. Teams must go to the checkpoints (cp's) in order of CP1, CP2, CP3, CP4, etc and must report to each cp with team number before you leave the cp. Teams must download the map from this website to print out and bring with them to find their way as maps will not be provided on race day.

11. Race Director has the final say and the right to change the course or rules.

Entry Fee for Adult and Family:

ADULT RACE - 9:15am- HK$750 per team of 2 ADULT RACE IS NOW FULL

(for Discovery Bay Nim Shue Wan race) - HK$900 late entry fee final week of race pending availability. Note 3% surcharge for credit card payment.

(HK$50 more than other races due to extra tunnel charges/admin fees).

Race entry includes shirt x 2, race number x 2, lifevest x 2, paddles x 2 and 2 seater kayak.

FAMILY FUN RACE - 8am - HK$400 per team of 2 (HK$600 for late entry final week of race if spaces available). Note 3% surcharge for credit card payment.

See "Online Registration" and "Online Payment" in red box top left corner of this website. Easiest and fastest. Everyone regardless of payment must do online registration. Note for Online Payment due to credit card a 3% charge is included in fee.

Please make sure we have your correct email as we will send your team updates. Please notify us immediately if we have your wrong email or are not on confirmed list. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE SO GET YOUR ENTRY IN.

Changes, Cancellation & Refunds
Strictly no refunds once payment is made.  Transfer of entry to a friend after payment is made is only allowed up to 2 weeks before race day.  No transfer of credit to other events is possible.  HK$100 admin charge for name changes only up to 5 days before event. Race Director has the final say on all matters.

Race Numbers and Personal Bag Check:
Race numbers and pins AND SHIRT to be picked up at registration race start at Nim Shue Wan. Luggage check at starting point.
