TRAINING DAY

A training day created by the Hong Kong China Skyrunning Association will be organizing a training day targeting novice & beginners.

Next Training day: Saturday Aug 31, 2024 (Route 2nd half of L2P course - Pak Kung Au-Wong Lung Hang-Tung Chung) with special guests Flora Ching/Kimmy Leung.

 

Date: Saturday July 13, 2024 (finished)

Time: 8am

Location to meet: Starbucks, Citigate Shopping Centre outside by water fountains, Tung Chung, Lantau Island Hong Kong

Route: Tung Chung Citygate (sea-level), 360 Rescue trail, Nei Lek Shan contour trail (588m), Ngong Ping by CP1 (447m), Lantau Peak - Fung Wong Shan (934m), Pak Kung Au by CP2 (338m).

Total diistance: Approx. 15km. Approx 3-4 hours.

What to expect: Skyrunning techniques to be discussed on route. Novice beginner only as leisure pace.

What to bring: Bring 1.5 – 2 litres water/electrolyte drink. Can purchase at Citygate from Circle K / 7-11. Bringing a water filter an advantage as small river along route after Ngong Ping. Hat. Sunscreen protection. Energy bar / gel to last 3+ hours. Shirt to change after finished. Waterproof pouch for phone.

What to wear: Dry fit clothing and trail running / hiking shoes.

What not to bring: Don't recommend bringing hiking poles as they are not allowed in the upcoming Lantau 2 Peaks race (but are allowed in other races) and the 2 main instructors (Flora & Kimmy) will show you correct style of hand/knee technique which many believe is more efficient on the stair climb. If you really want to bring ok, but just warning in actual L2P race not allowed.

If bad weather route may be changed to shorter route upon arrival.

Insurance: Participants in training day are advised to have their own insurance coverage as this is at your own risk.
