Event Name:	Mongolia Action Asia 3 Day Ultra Marathon
Date:	July 6, 2024 (Sat) - July 8, 2024 (Mon) - Race days
Start Time:	7:30 am Sat July 6, 2024 (Must arrive day before Fri July 5, 2024 (or earlier) as bus aranged to Ger camp Friday 6pm - 4 hour bus ride Fri night) - (Depart Mongolia July 4 or after.
Start Location:	Mongolia - Gobi - 3 hr drive from UB.
Distance:	60 km & 100 km over 3 days (60 = 20 + 20 + 20) (100= 40 + 40+ 20)

Aim:	To promote some of Mongolia's most stunning & epic running locations.

An unforgettable foray into the hinterland of Mongolia to experience the breathtaking beauty of its countryside. This vast land encompasses a fabulous array of pristine landscapes and nomadic people whose lives are in many ways unchanged since the days of Genghis Khan and the mighty Mongol Empire.who controlled his vast empire from Mongolia, situated between Russia and China. A nature lover’s paradise.

Course Design:

Designed by Michael Maddess who's organized over 290 events with Action Asia Events and one of the most experienced Race Directors & Course Designers in Asia. The course will be made up of mostly single track horse trails and open grass nomadic plains  together with a mixture of stunning lush mountain steppes as backdrops.. Location kept confidential until the night before each day where maps are given out for the next day too keep with the tradition of adventure and expecting the unexpected since Michael Maddess started these 3 day overseas events.

• Please email payment@actionasiaevents.com with your preferred person(s) who you would like to share the gers with if you haven’t as most gers are 4 beds each. Hotel accommodation at Ullanbaatar Hotel will be 2 people per room on last night which is recently renovated and very nice.
• Showers and toilets also in camp for all runners.

  

Itinerary:

Friday July 5 : (2023 summer airline schedule out soon but always Friday flight from Hong Kong and Tues UB-HK. MIAT also has flights from Tokyo, Soeul and other locations.

• 2:15 pm - Bus leaves the official hotel (Ulaanbaatar Hotel - recently renovated and very nice) to the airport to pick up others (for those arriving 1 or more days early)
• 5:30 pm - 6pm – All buses leave UB airport (after the arrival of HK flight as many on this flight - leaves Hong Kong around noon -12:05pm ) - email us if arriving after the 5pm Jun 30 HK flight from other locations as you will have to rent a vehicle to go after bus. (tbc flight details)
• 9:00 pm – Estimated time arrival at ger camp as 3 hour drive
• At ger camp– Kitchen meal served to all participants (meat & vegetarian dishes) - included in the fee (STATE IN ENTRY REGISTRATION IF VEGETARIAN - will provide a google link before race to double check)

Saturday July 6:

• 6 am Breakfast starts in main kitchen ger – included in the fee
• 7:30 am – Day 1 Race start (both 60km & 100km category)
• 12-5pm - Lunch buffet served in the afternoon - included in the fee
• 6:30 pm – Dinner served - included in the fee
• 7 pm - Race briefing for day 2 course and results day 1

Sunday July 7:

• 5 am – Breakfast starts in main kitchen ger – included in the fee
• 7:30 am – Day 2 Race start (both 60km & 100km category)
• 12-5 pm – Lunch buffet served in afternoon - included in the fee
• 6 pm – Dinner served - included in the fee
• 7 pm – Race briefing for day 3 course and results day 2

Monday July 8:

• 5:30 am – Breakfast starts in main kitchen ger – included in the fee
• 8 am – Day 3 Race start (both 60km & 100km category)
• 10 am – 12noon - Lunch buffet served  - included in the fee
• 12 noon – Buses leave for official Hotel (can swing by the airport and drop anyone off on the way) (arrive airport 4-5pm) then continue to Official UB Hotel drop off.
• 6:30 pm – AWARDS AND DINNER and a chance to socialize after a nice hotel shower – Awards ceremony - included in fee and transport arranged

Tuesday July 9:

• Bus will be arranged from official hotel direct to the airport in the afternoon. Anyone else with earlier flight will have to take taxi themselves to the airport which hotel can book for you very easy (around USD 50).

What's included in the entry:

• Bus transportation from Ulaanbaatar (Airport and City) official hotel or airport to start race location Friday night July 5 departing 2 separate times.  2:15pm from Hotel and around 5:30 - 6pm Airport after HK flight lands. Special transport can be arranged if you arrive later Friday and quotation can be sent to you.
• Transportation during stage race days if needed and transport of your luggage between race days if necessary. As it stands this won’t happen as same location each day.
• Accommodation for Friday July 5, Sat July 6, Sun July 7 in Gers and Monday July 8 in Ulaanbaatar official Hotel (twin share). Note this is the official hotel, but official hotel could change so please check with organizer to double confirm if making any private booking before or after the race. Extra rate full room charge if requesting personal room and will supply quotation upon request.
• Transportation from finish to the official hotel in UB.
• Breakfast on Sat July 6, Sun July 7, Mon July 8 (at camp) and Tuesday July 9 (at official hotel). Lunch Sat July 6, Sun July 7, Mon July 8. Dinner at Fri Jul 5 on bus or camp depending time as will be very late, Sat July 6, Sun July 7 and Mon July 8 awards party dinner. No alcohol provided, but you may purchase at camp or hotel. (Mongolian currency or USD).
• Bus transportation from the hotel to Awards party and return Mon July 8 if needed. Option bus transport to the airport Tuesday July 9 for one trip only estimated 2 hours before the HK flight. (see note below but hotel will help with airport taxi as around USD50 if you have to pay for later time in day).
• Racing number & souvenir shirt provided
• Water on the race course (cp every 10km estimate) with boiled water or large distilled water to recycle from at finish line each day.
• Medical, Police and staff support with event 3rd party insurance.
• (Mattress, bed sheets and blanket provided)

What's NOT included:

• Visa for Mongolia - must go to Mongolian consulate in your country to get. Don't get upon arrival as we won't wait for you as takes over 1 hour if your lucky and somebody there. Check with Mongolian consultate on your country as some new rules in effect for certain countries.

• Sleeping bags are NOT provided - (Mattress, bed sheets and blanket are provided)
• Optional extra night’s accommodation in Mongolia NOT provided. Can book official thru the agent.
• CSR - Raising money for Action Asia Events charity partner in Mongolia - Local herders can use help in books and school supplies so encourage all to bring pencils, crayons, coloring books as the children love.
• The Action Asia Events charity partner is open to suggestions as there are a few projects of interest that will be open to discussion amongst participants which include raising funds for the school supplies for some of the herders children whether it is a donation of US$ 20 or US$ 100. All donations are welcome but not mandatory. A sponsorship pledge form will be sent by email to confirmed participants and put on the site. We're also looking at a way to do more and will discuss this with different organizations for CSR ideas and welcome input.

FOOD AT CAMP – Meals are typical Mongolia fried noodle with meat/potatoes or rice meat / vegetarian options. Everyone quite happy in 2013/2014/2015/2016/2017/2018/2019/2023 with food choices as we always hire extra experienced cooks for the group. Hot water will be available.

Showers & Toilets are at camp. Over 20 gers (4 per ger) with shower outside. First come first serve in registration. But don't expect too much from the shower pressure as with a group size the pressure is small but good to rinse yourself off. Always fun!

Electricity - NOT - Only 1 electric socket in "some" gers and wasn’t working last time so expect the worse. The electric plug from a solar charger is used for the main fridge to keep meat cold so recommend bring your own solar chargers if you need. Two hole round plug. Leave your computers at home. Suggest bring power banks for charging your gps watch if believe it wont last 3 days. Most participants bring a mini solar charger.

Telephone reception terrible. Better so you can socialize and not do business. It is possible to purchase phone cards in UB, Mongolia, but patchy reception at best and not really good for countryside or outside of UB. Can wait until back in UB to upload your pics!!

TRANSPORTATION

We need to know how many of you need picking up in the city of UB as some of you are from cities around the world and we want to make sure all of you are looked after as we haven't lost anyone yet, but sometimes a flight is delayed and we have to arrange special driver so please email your flight itinerary before May 31 so we know how many buses to arrange from UB official hotel and how many need to go on Monday afternoon.

Insurance -  Organizer provides 3rd party insurance for event only. Participants should purchase their own personal insurance to cover hospital medical coverage and evacuation if needed.

Medical - As this event involves going into the mountains we recommend all participants to have gone to a medical checkup before the event to make sure you are physically fit enough to handle this kind of physical challenge.

 

Survivor Medal 2023 (You will get even if you don't do all 3 days as the idea is that you 'survived' our Action Asia Event in Mongolia.
