Weather holds out, kids & adults enjoy the adventure – Kayak n Run in association with OCA - Deep Water Bay by Action Asia Events
HONG KONG Sept 16, 2023 – After a 3-year absence the first rescheduled Action Asia Kayak n Run in association with OCA got under way at Deep Water Bay over perfect conditions with cool weather, nice breeze around Middle Island on the Kayak and a bit of mud on the trails which didn’t stop the kids in the family category from enjoying themselves with some as young as 5 yrs old participating. The adult teams were more serious, but for all of the 120 + participants it was just nice to get these type of adventure related events happening in Hong Kong again.
Kurt Lynn did the unusual thing or should we say normal for him by participating in both family and the adult categories as did the 3km ocean kayak from Deep Water Bay out to Ocean Park and back, then a short trail run of 2km with his daughter Kimmi, then jumped back in the boat with his new teammate and went off again on the adult route with a longer kayak of 4.5km around Middle Island before the 5km run which was shortened due to all the past weather over recent weeks. “Oh it’s all for fun, but can you do us a little favor and try your best to delay the start a few minutes so I can get back in time” said Kurt Lynn while daughter Kimmi was smiling while looking at the long kayak that takes participants out below the Ocean Park amusement park.
In the adult race it was a French contingent of Louis and Laetitia Montfort of team Mystrongs who had a strong ocean kayak and kept the lead on the trail section to secure an overall win in 1 hour 20 minutes winning overall and the top mixed team. “Thanks so much for a well organized race and to all the sponsors including OCA as really enjoyed it and hoping we can win again next year” said Louis Monfort while Laetitia Monfort was screaming “yeah Action Asia’ next to him showing her excitement after the race.
The top Men’s team was Team Scott from Hong Kong with Chau Pak Ching and Cheung Ka Ho taking 2nd place overall in 1 hour 23 minutes. "Great course today as so much fun and special thanks to OCA and Scott together with all the sponsors and big thanks to Action Asia the organizer" said Chau from winning Men's team.
Big smiles after a strong kayak and winning the overall Womens team was Team Crazzy Cd with Look Debbie Look and Candy Wong both from Hong Kong. "Oh wow, Scott trail shoes, thanks as so nice. Hey when is the next race as so much fun" said Debbie.
The Action Asia Kayak N Run in association with OCA at Deep Water Bay could not happen without the generous support of OCA plant-based energy drink, Scott running, Royale International, Action X Store, C3fit, Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Watsons Water, Action Asia Sports Academy, Ocean Recovery Alliance and St Johns.
