Good weather - Healthy Hike & Run - Leung and Dong grab wins

Good weather keeps Healthy Hike & Run dry with Leung and Dong grabbing wins

HONG KONG, [16 March 2025] – Leung 梁Son Keng 順敬 grabbed the overall 19km title for the 2nd year in a row showing he excels at the 19km distance at the Healthy Hike & Run Tai Lam by Action Asia Events with close to 400 participants. In the Women’s 19km race Dong 董Chaoling 朝玲 took the top the podium after numerous wins this past 12 months showing she is a force to be reckoned with.

Leung (HKSAR) was happy with the conditions. “The weather was great as loved the scenery after passing the checkpoint after Tai Lam Chung half way around the reservoir. The trails were good shape, so I pushed hard to take advantage of the conditions on the rolling sections as the course marking was fantastic. Thanks so much Action Asia Events” said overall winner Leung finishing in 1 hour 43 minutes 15 seconds.

"Just so happy the weather became beautiful at the start as after terrible torrential rain yesterday, I was expecting bad weather, but as no rain in the morning and the sun coming out, the course dried fast, nice cool breeze and not complaining at all as really enjoyed it. I was just keeping my eye on the men around me during the race trying to keep up with them and not slow down” said overall Women’s winner Dong (China) finishing in 1 hour 49 minutes 4 seconds, who has now moved to Hong Kong working in finance.

Kelly Mark Arthur (Ireland) improved his time by 2 minutes as took 2nd overall this year after a 5th place overall in 2024 edition.

“Yeh, fantastic course. Not too many steep climbs apart from the very end, which is a gradual up and down, very runnable, terrain can be a bit bumpy, fantastic marking, delighted to finish in second“, said Kelly in his strong Irish accent, finishing just over 4 minutes behind the winner in 1 hour 47 minutes 35 seconds.

“Quite hilly for me as I normally do roads. Gorgeous weather. I had a blast. Will definitely do another Action Asia event. Thank you very much Action Asia and all the support crew”, said 2nd overall Women in the 19km Australian Stephanie Soulier who finished in 2 hours 20 minutes 39 seconds.

“One of the best designed courses in Hong Kong with fantastic marking and truly stunning. Thanks to Action Asia for putting on this annual event and I will definitely be back next year again” said Igor Gal (Croatia) from team Trail Hunter / Joma finishing 3rd overall in the Men’s 19km in 1 hour 49 minutes 58 seconds.

“I had a good experience with the course as a bit windy and looking around thru the race the views were quite nice. I was so happy as beautiful experience. Thanks again so much for organizing this Action Asia Events” said 3rd Women overall in the 19km Julibel Bagayao (Philippines) from team (Creep Or Crawl) who finished in 2 hours 23 minutes 48 seconds.

Runners competed in three distances – 19 km, 13 km and 5 km, all enjoying the spectacular view of the Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, commonly known as the 'Thousand Islands Lake'. The Healthy Hike & Run promotes the beautiful hiking trails around Hong Kong and supports environmental initiatives such as 'leave no trace'.

Michael Maddess, Director of Action Asia Events, said: "Congratulations to all who completed as an impressive turnout among so many other events across Hong Kong. It’s great to see so many different groups of people embrace this sustainable race.
